-Born in Addis Ababa, Rahel Fulford grew up in the care of her Grandmother who spoke only Tigrinya. Rahel is the daughter of Eritrean mother and an Ethiopian father. Rahel who was educated in Amharic moved to Egypt when she was eighteen where she became fluent in Arabic. in 2001 Rahel moved to the UK and married and Englishman.

I moved to Egypt when I was eighteen and lived there for eight years becoming fluent in Arabic. in 2001 I fell in love with a monoglot Englishman who became my husband. I moved to West Bridgford in the UK in 2001.
