Formerly Da Vinci's restaurant, The Monkey Tree has followed the path
of Des Amis and the Perl in trying to major on alchohol consumption.
Fizzy drinks and a decor designed to appeal to a "younger" clientele.
For the moment it appears to be working. Certainly in passing it seems
to be busier than the restaurant did.
What puzzles me is that so few pub and bar owners seem to be aware of the
demographics. The real money continues to drive out of Bridgford (and
away from the City Centre) to more genial premises in the County and beyond.
Discriminating drinkers who can cope with the cramped conditions will
continue to use the Pet Shop (or the Stratford as it is known to off comers).
