In memory of Edna Wykes who gave so much to 'The
All Hallows' Lady Bay drama company:
- It was a full house for her last performance.
- Those she had entertained
- over many years
- gathered to say goodbye.
- Familiar faces, players
- audiences from past productions.
- Acoustics poor
- yet the singing was good.
- The actors read their lines
- emotion blurring delivery.
- She considered, rejected retirement
- lines sometimes escaped.
- Reluctant to leave the stage,
- until fate took a hand.
- The curtain fell.
- She did not hear this
- her last accolade.
